Diveheart Adaptive Diver Course (AD01)
The Diveheart Adaptive Diver certification course is designed for children, adults, and veterans with disabilities who want to earn an internationally recognized scuba certification. This course is taken alongside all other required training from the Diveheart Adaptive Scuba Instructor’s professional certification agency.

Diveheart Adaptive Diver Program Key Course Features:

  • Tailored learning: Often taught one-on-one, with pacing customized to the diver’s needs.

Eligibility requirements:

  • Must be at least 10 years old.
  • Must have a current RSTC-approved medical form, signed by their primary physician, clearing them for scuba diving.
  • Must complete the Diveheart Adaptive Diver course and read the Diveheart Adaptive Diver Manual.

Diveheart Adaptive Diver eLearning Course:

  • Open to anyone interested in learning about scuba diving with a disability.
  • No exam required. Just an opportunity to explore and understand Adaptive Diving and Diveheart’s mission.

North Florida DiversDiveheart Adaptive Dive Buddy (BUD01)
This course introduces Diveheart and adaptive scuba diving to certified divers interested in working with Adaptive Divers (individuals with disabilities). It is Diveheart’s entry-level Buddy Course. Upon earning certification, Adaptive Dive Buddies can participate on Diveheart Adaptive Dive Teams.

Diveheart Adaptive Diver Program Course Materials:

  • Candidates must have their own copy of the Diveheart Adaptive Scuba Instructor/Dive Buddy Manual (available in softcover or electronic versions on Amazon).
  • Diveheart also recommends having a copy of the Diveheart Adaptive Diver Manual (softcover or electronic).

Prerequisites:

  • Minimum age: 15 years old
  • Certified Open Water Diver (or equivalent) with at least 20 logged dives
  • Must have been diving or taken a refresher course within the past two years
  • Current CPR/First Aid/AED training (valid through the entire course)
  • Comfortable performing all of Diveheart’s Buddy Tune-Up Skills before attending the practical portion of the course
  • Proficient in scuba skills, including buoyancy control (completion of a Buoyancy Control Course is recommend

North Florida DiversDiveheart Advanced Adaptive Dive Buddy (BUD02)
This course builds on Diveheart’s Adaptive Dive Buddy Course, introducing advanced skills, techniques, and protocols for working with adaptive divers who require a higher degree of assistance while scuba diving. Candidates will also become familiar with specialized adaptive diving equipment, such as full-face masks. Upon certification, Advanced Adaptive Dive Buddies can lead Diveheart Adaptive Dive Teams.

Diveheart Adaptive Diver Program Course Materials:

  • Candidates must have their own copy of the Diveheart Adaptive Scuba Instructor/Dive Buddy Manual (available in softcover or electronic versions on Amazon).
  • Diveheart also recommends having a copy of the Diveheart Adaptive Diver Manual (softcover or electronic).

  • Minimum age: 18 years old
  • Certified Rescue Diver (or equivalent) with at least 40 logged dives
  • Must have been diving or taken a refresher course within the past two years
  • Current CPR/First Aid/AED training (valid through the entire course)
  • Comfortable performing all of Diveheart’s Buddy Tune-Up Skills before attending the practical portion of the course
  • Full Face Mask Certification is recommended
  • **Pre-requisite to certification**: 30 experiences working with adaptive divers underwater, with at least 15 in open water environments
